Still Dangerous

Gidget has been making progress, but she still has anger issues. She will tolerate things to a point, then will rear and strike to show her displeasure. I'm afraid Mary or I will be hurt at some point, and I don't trust her at all. Makes it hard to keep enthusiastic about her training! If anyone has any great ideas for "breaking" her of this habit, please let me know - I'm open to any suggestions!

  1. No great advice, but a friendly reminder that my friend recently gave me. Each horse is an individual and progresses at various rates. Take your time and don't get hurt. It's easy to get wrapped up in the "competion" part of the makeover. The best thing you can do is lay a good foundation for Gidget. There will be times when it seems like you are taking one step forward and two steps back (I am there myself). I know how heartbreaking and down in the dumps you can feel.

  2. I agree with what mkyamse says. We would never expect our "SHOW" horses to do the things the mustangs are capable of doing in 90 days. The goal is to make a great horse and sometimes the hard ones are the ones that end up the best in the end. You have made great progress with her!
